I want to start a daycare at home. I know that i need a license, but what exactly do i need to do and how can i do it? I know that this is a big project and won’t be easy, but i am very willing to do it all.
Thank you in advance!

You will need to clean and childproof you house. Next you will need to get someone from the city to check you house and make sure it is safe and satisfactory. That’s part of what it takes to get the lisense. Advertising will also be a big part of this project. Have the kids ride on a float in a local parade it will be fun for the kids and a great free or inexpensive way to get new clients!
I hope this helped!
Good Luck!

  6. Jenny Said,

If you don’t have any professional experience I definitely recommend working in a nursery, pre-school or daycare first. You will have to do courses as well, qualifactions is the first thing they look at when you want to start a daycare. You will need to have enough money to invest in making your house childsafe and to provide them with a wide range of toys and playing activites. For example, children in a daycare need to have two forms of ‘messy play’ (think sand, flower, water, food) at their use every day. You will need to have books and toys which are all quite expensive. Luckily, there is a possibility the government might help you with your fundings. Search for ‘starting a daycare’ on the net for more info. You will need to be CRB checked, you and every other person in your house will be checked for any criminal records.
A good way to start childcare from your home is childminding. There is a big need for childminders in the UK and depending on your home and living situation you can have up to 8 children to take care for from your home. Just type in childminding in any search site and you will find all the info you need. You will need to go through a first aid course and if you are going to prepare your own food for the daycare you will need a certificate of Hygiene.

After getting your license it’s all about spreading the word. Let everybody know about your daycare, tell people about it, use flyers, advertisements and so on.

This is all I can think of for now, I’ve been doing some research because I want to do the same thing. I work in a nursery and I’m still working on my qualifications through courses. The courses you need to follow will tell you about all the aspects that are of importance in a daycare so if you’re not on a course go one one and ask your tutor all the questions you migh thave. That’s what I’m doing :)
    Good luck!

Depending on how many children you want to take in will determine if you need to be licensed or registered. Usually, if you want to take in 5 children or less you will only need to be registered.

You will need to take courses and get CPR certified. To know exactly what courses you need and what you need to do to be licensed, you can check your states licensing requirements.

You will also need to get insurance for you home daycare, you don’t need much coverage so it shouldn’t be expensive.

It’s a good idea to get a expert a step by step guide, as this will give you everything you need including important forms you will need. They usually run about $30.00 or so.
